ABOUT THIS EVENT:
We’re building a temporary freewall on Temple University’s campus, and in this workshop you’re invited to help us kick it off! Join Philly street artist Blur and poet and organizer Luis Marrero (of Voices in Power) to get some tips on writing, creating, and wheatpasting your own art (supplies will be available.) We’ll be pasting up all the work on our freewall together at the end of the workshop.
ABOUT THE 'PHILLY PUBLIC ARTS FORUM' SERIES:
Streets Dept’s Conrad Benner and Cindy M. Ngo (of Eat Up The Borders) are excited to present the 'Philly Public Arts Forum,' a series of three free events from September 20th through October 3rd aimed at exploring the state of art in Philadelphia’s public spaces, created in partnership with Temple University Libraries to be hosted at Temple's Paley Library!
The Philly Public Arts Forum plans to examine the means and motivations of nine of Philadelphia’s most active and engaged artists, activists, curators, and organizers and how they’re shaping our public spaces. The series then culminates in a public art making workshop where Philadelphians can create and install their own art on a freewall that we’re building on Temple’s campus.
What is the public space? Who’s creating the work we see around the city? How does access to art and arts education shape who’s invited to participate in our city’s creative placemaking? And what role can public art play in sparking conversation, empowerment, empathy, and understanding around important social and political issues? Join us as we discuss and create!
All events are FREE and open to the public, but you may RSVP at the following link to receive a reminder when the event nears: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/philly-public-arts-forum-wheat…
